Photography

GoPro Hero5 Black: $399.99
Unveiled in September, the Hero5 is the ultimate in cameras for adventuring. The advanced video stabilization allows you to mount the camera anywhere (helmet, bike, etc.) and not make you feel like you’re watching the “Blair Witch Project” when you watch the footage. It’s waterproof, has a 2 inch touch display, and produces beautiful photographs. While it’s a little more expensive, it’s definitely worth the price.

Canon PowerShot SX410 IS: $179.99
Is someone on your list an aspiring photographer? The Canon Powershot is a great starter camera that will give them all the features and benefits they need to learn, without the crazy price of more professional cameras. Its smaller size lends to a comfortable feeling while shooting, and the camera itself produces amazing photographs, as one would expect from a Canon.

Fujifilm instax mini 8: $59.99
As they say, everything that’s old is new again. Recently Polaroid cameras have been making a comeback. They aren’t quite the same as the original cameras, but they work pretty well and are surprisingly affordable, as are the film packs. The automatic exposure adjustment makes it easy to use indoors and out.

While I don’t personally have one, I have used one before, and can attest that they are simple to use and produce quality Polaroids. This would make a fun gift for anyone who loves capturing the moment and reminiscing with the prints.

*Honorable Mention – DJi Mavic Pro Drone$999

Unfortunately the Mavic Pro won’t be back on the market until after the holiday season is over…but that doesn’t stop you from pre-ordering it for when it’s back in stock. As one of the most portable drones on the market, that doesn’t force you to give up important features like range, battery, stability and more, this is a dream for videographers and photographers everywhere. Check out this video for more information on the Mavic Pro, how it works, and a glimpse into just what the videos it produces look like.

XYZPrinting da Vinci Jr. 1.0: $249
Now, I don’t know much about 3D printers, but when this suggestion came up in the office I set out to find an affordable, but useful home 3D printer. After scouring reviews, I came along the daVinci Jr. 1.0. While it’s may seem a little pricey, it’s definitely on the cheap side of 3D printers and still receives great reviews. This is a great printer for the home or even classroom because of it’s ease of use and smaller size.
